Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, is a vibrant and joyous celebration with deep cultural significance around the world. In 2026, Chinese New Year begins on Tuesday 17th February and continues for 15 days, concluding with the Lantern Festival.

As we enter the Year of the Horse, the Global School Alliance is proud to raise awareness of the rich and diverse Chinese culture and traditions, giving students in schools worldwide access to authentic resources and competitions to explore a global festival.

Poster Competition for Schools

We’re challenging students to design a poster that celebrates the Year of the Horse, incorporating Chinese New Year messages, the horse and Chinese language or characters.

Students are encouraged to explore the cultural significance of the horse in Chinese tradition, as well as the colours, symbols and themes commonly associated with Chinese New Year. Entries may be hand-drawn or digitally created and should be submitted as a high-resolution scan or photograph

Entries are submitted on our platform and the deadline to enter is Friday 6th March 2026.
