Schools United for Climate Action

The Global School Alliance is passionate about supporting schools to embed sustainability into the heart of the ethos, empowering staff and students to take meaningful action for the planet.

Our campaign ‘Schools United for Climate Action’ is designed to help schools in England meet the Department for Education’s requirement to have a Climate Action Plan in place by September 2025.

Discover how the Global School Alliance can support your journey toward becoming a climate-conscious school – from sharing practical resources and showcasing inspiring case studies, to connecting sustainability leads and offering collaborative webinars that build confidence and capacity across the school community.

How we can help

Things for school leaders to consider

  • What existing work could form part of your Climate Action Plan?
  • How could you integrate climate education and sustainability topics across the curriculum?
  • What would increase biodiversity across your settings’ estate?
  • How could you save costs while lowering the school’s environmental footprint?
  • How could you connect with schools overseas to compare and contrast climate challenges and solutions?

How to get started

Climate Action Plan Webinar

The Global School Alliance is delighted to partner with Climate Ambassadors, a Department for Education-funded programme helping schools to develop and implement a Climate Action Plan, to deliver a webinar with expert advice, practical steps and real-life examples.

Sustainability Pledge Challenge

We’re inviting schools around the world to take part in our Sustainability Pledge Challenge – an opportunity for students and school communities to commit to meaningful actions that directly support the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
