Manchester Islamic Grammar School for Girls have been awarded the ‘Globally Aware Schools‘ status.

The recognition celebrates the school’s growing commitment to developing confident, enquiring and globally minded young citizens.

John Rolfe MBE met with Ms Kossar MBE, Acting Headteacher, to present the certificate and learn about their global journey. The visit offered an opportunity to explore how global learning is rooted in the school ethos, from curriculum and culture to student-led initiatives and community engagement.

Ms Kossar MBE, expressed her pride in the school’s achievement: “At MIGSG we are proud to be part of the Global School Alliance, opening doors for our students and staff to connect, collaborate, and learn with schools across the world. Being globally involved not only enriches our curriculum but also inspires a deeper understanding of diversity, global citizenship, and shared responsibility for the future.”

The school has already established global partnerships with schools in Turkey, Spain and Ghana, offering students the opportunity to learn about life in other cultures, exchange ideas and collaborate on projects with their international peers.

John Rolfe, Community & Partnerships Manager, said: “It was a huge privilege to visit Manchester Islamic Grammar School for Girls and present their well-deserved Globally Aware School certificate. This is a great globally minded school with a great commitment to bringing the world into their classrooms through a strong community outreach, offering a range of overseas visits and a creative and innovative approach to whole school global activities.”
