We are delighted to partner with Climate Ambassadors to deliver this insightful webinar for schools in England on Tuesday 10th February at 12:30pm, exploring the role of climate action in safeguarding and supporting pupil wellbeing.
This webinar series is designed to support schools in England as they work towards meeting the Department for Education’s requirement for all schools to have a Climate Action Plan in place,.
About the session
Climate action is not separate from other school priorities – more often than not, climate action is actually linked and synergetic with statutory duties. There is conclusive evidence that climate change is negatively impacting children’s well-being, and therefore any education setting who does not see it as a safeguarding issue is at risk of undermining their ‘loco-parentis’ responsibility. You will come away from this session with ‘climate-literate’ safeguarding knowledge and inspiration, allowing you to further address the growing mental health and vulnerability in our children.
The webinar will be led by Kit Marie Rackley, Climate Ambassadors Regional Hub Manager in the East of England and feature examples from schools who have included climate action as a part of their safeguarding and wellbeing priorities.

Climate Ambassadors is one of the initiatives supporting delivery of the Department for Education’s Climate Change and Sustainability Strategy. By the end of 2025, DfE expect every education setting in England from Early Years to Post-16 to have a Sustainability Lead and Climate Action Plan in place covering Adaptation & Resilience, Biodiversity, Climate Education and Green Careers and Decarbonisation. Climate Ambassadors offers free support from trained volunteers to education settings to develop and deliver this work. They have a network of nine regional hubs led by university and research partners to develop and facilitate local networks and activity and work closely with our DfE-funded ‘sister’ projects, National Education Nature Park and Sustainability Support for Education plus Let’s Go Zero. Climate ambassadors are seeing settings develop Climate Action Plans and set priorities at both Trust and individual setting level across England.
