This week, Villiers High School welcomed students and teachers from Beijing Institute of Technology Affiliated High School, offering a unique opportunity for cultural exchange and collaborative learning.
The visit took place as part of the Be Proud to Host programme, which enables schools to host international students and provide meaningful, authentic experiences that benefit the whole school community.
Students from Years 8 and 10 joined a variety of lessons to experience school life in the UK. Deputy Headteacher Beth Reynolds highlighted the value of the visit, noting that it gave Villiers students a chance to meet, learn from and be inspired by their peers.
The day also included a STEM workshop led by Georgina Green, STEM specialist and founder of Green Tutors, which allowed students to collaborate on practical, hands-on challenges and explore the real-world applications of science, technology, engineering and maths.
Teachers from Beijing engaged in meaningful discussions with Villiers’ leadership team, exploring key differences and shared learning between the UK and Chinese education systems, including curriculum design, student engagement, community links and teaching approaches.

The visit concluded with a guided tour of Southall Market, giving the guests a glimpse of the local community’s vibrant diversity.
Over the next few weeks, hundreds of students are visiting schools across London to be fully immersed in school life and develop global understanding through first-hand experiences.
