We spoke with Madhu Chauhan, Principal at Tagore Public School, about what the Bronze Award recognition means for the school and how it reflects their commitment to global learning.
Why is global education important to you and your school?
Global education is a cornerstone of Tagore Public School’s mission to prepare students for a rapidly globalizing world. Situated in Gurugram, a cosmopolitan hub hosting numerous multinational corporations, TPS recognizes the necessity of equipping students with skills to thrive in diverse, international environments. Global education fosters empathy, cultural awareness, and critical thinking, enabling students to collaborate and compete on a global stage. This aligns with the school’s ethos, inspired by Rabindranath Tagore, who championed universal harmony and mutual respect among cultures. By integrating global perspectives, TPS ensures students are not only academically proficient but also socially responsible global citizens capable of addressing complex global challenges, such as sustainability and cultural integration.
How can/has the Global School Alliance benefited you as a teacher and the opportunities for your school?
The Global School Alliance shall be transformative for TPS educators and the institution as a whole. For teachers, the alliance provides access to a vibrant network of over 8,000 schools across 127 countries, facilitating the exchange of best practices, innovative teaching strategies, and diverse resources. This shall enrich lessons with global perspectives, making them more engaging and relevant. For TPS, the alliance opens opportunities for international partnerships, such as virtual student exchanges and joint projects, which enhance the curriculum with real-world, cross-cultural experiences. Additionally, the alliance offers professional development opportunities, ensuring TPS staff remain at the forefront of global education trends.
What benefits do you think this award will have on the whole school community?
The Bronze Global School Award is a significant milestone for TPS, recognizing its commitment to embedding global dimensions within its ethos and curriculum. It fosters pride among students, staff, and parents, enhancing TPS’s reputation as a leader in progressive education within Nirvana County. The award is likely to attract new students and partnerships, creating opportunities for collaboration with other institutions. It also inspires the school to deepen its global education initiatives, aiming for higher levels of achievement, such as the Silver or Gold Awards.
How will you use this award to motivate students and staff?
TPS plans to celebrate the Bronze Award through school assemblies, the newsletter, and social media, highlighting the collective efforts of the school community. This recognition will serve as a source of pride and motivation. The award will also launch new initiatives, such as international student competitions, cultural exchange programs, and workshops on global issues. By involving students and staff in these activities, TPS aims to foster a continued passion for global learning and set ambitious goals for future excellence.

What are your plans to develop your international work?
TPS is committed to expanding its international work by establishing additional partnerships with schools worldwide, facilitated by the Global School Alliance. The school plans to integrate global themes into its curriculum, such as sustainability and cultural studies, and support student-led projects addressing global challenges. TPS will also explore staff exchange programs and professional development opportunities with international schools to enhance teaching practices, ensuring global education remains a cornerstone of the school’s identity.
