SustainFest is more than just a festival—it’s a vibrant, community-driven initiative that brings together local businesses, residents, parents, students, and organisations to celebrate and promote all things sustainable.
On June 20th, 2025, we proudly hosted our second annual SustainFest, building on the momentum of last year’s success with an even bigger, better, and greener celebration. As a school, we recognise the vital role we play in educating not only our students and staff but also parents and the wider community about the importance of environmental sustainability. Our mission is to ensure everyone within our school community understands the urgency of today’s global environmental challenges—and feels empowered to be part of the solution.
By equipping our students with the knowledge, skills, and motivation to drive change, we aim to nurture the next generation of creative problem-solvers and sustainability champions.

A Festival with Purpose

SustainFest serves as a platform to highlight sustainable products, services, and practices while building meaningful connections between businesses, educators, and environmentally conscious consumers.

Festival participants enjoyed the opportunity to:

  • Showcase their eco-friendly products, services, or initiatives to a diverse and engaged audience.
  • Connect with like-minded businesses, community groups, and organisations who share a passion for sustainability.
  • Engage with attendees through hands-on workshops, live demonstrations, and informative exhibits.
This year’s attractions included a solar-powered stage, electric go-karts, electronic repair workshops, and a host of exciting activities designed for both adults and children.

Sustainability in Action

SustainFest 2025 exemplified what it means to walk the talk. With the help of an incredible network of companies, charities, and volunteers, we created an event that was not only fun but also meaningfully sustainable.
Highlights included:
  • Live performances from student rock bands of all ages on our solar-powered stage.
  • Attendance from both the Wokingham and Town Mayors, showing their support for our cause.
  • The use of our school’s reusable crockery and cutlery to eliminate single-use waste.
  • Handmade bunting created by our Year 9 students using reclaimed fabric from local charity shops—offering them a lesson in batch production and quality control while creating decorations that can be reused year after year.
  • Fabric napkins made to replace disposable ones and reduce landfill waste.

We also took an important step in tracking our environmental impact by weighing all waste generated during the event. This data will help us set sustainability benchmarks and improve future festivals.

Looking Ahead

The response from our community has been overwhelmingly positive, and we’re already planning how to make next year’s SustainFest even more impactful. With every event, we move closer to creating a culture where sustainability is second nature, not just a one-day celebration.
SustainFest 2025 was a celebration of collaboration, creativity, and commitment to a greener future. Thank you to everyone who joined us—we can’t wait to see what we achieve together next year.
