His passion for writing instruction has been inspired by meeting children who always have so much to express. Mike says that it has been his pride and joy to introduce these students to the skills that have allowed them to tell their stories well. He has learned that young writers become most engaged when they work closely with their peers, especially as mentors.

The methodologies and products Mike has created, including Essaypop, are informed by this understanding. Mike’s career ambition has been to inspire students to become great writers who also become extraordinary mentors.
